Goal
Create a fast-paced action experience that combines bullet-hell combat with meaningful ability choices, encouraging players to adapt their strategy as encounters become more challenging.
Design
Skills & Combos
Players unlock and combine abilities to create different playstyles. The system was designed to encourage experimentation by allowing skills to interact and create powerful combinations.
Roguelike Genre
Each run offers new opportunities to adapt and refine a strategy. Progression was built around meaningful choices, rewarding players who learn enemy patterns and optimize their builds.
Programming interactive skill systems
Implemented modular skill systems that support unlocks, upgrades, and interactions between abilities. This approach allowed new skills and combinations to be added efficiently throughout development.
Learnings
Strengthened my understanding of designing and implementing progression systems that support multiple playstyles.
